Meet the team

District Lead Volunteer

Will Hazell

Will has overall responsibility for the District. It’s Will’s job to ensure that the District runs effectively and that Scouting develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scouts so that young people can benefit from good quality Scouting.

District Chair

Rosemary Shaw

Rosemary chairs the Trustee Board which supports the District Lead Volunteer in carrying out their role. The District Trustee Board makes sure that the charity is well managed, risks are assessed and mitigated, buildings and equipment are in good working order, and everyone follows legal requirements and Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). As Chair, Rosemary leads on this.

Programme Team Leader

Tyler Jeffs

Tyler heads up the programme arm of the District team. Working directly with section specialists and leaders throughout the District, Tyler’s aim is to ensure that all young people experience a high quality, enjoyable and rewarding programme throughout their time in Scouting. This can range from section evenings to weekend events to international trips.

Volunteering Development Team Leader

Harry Huckin

In this role, Harry’s aim is to ensure that all volunteers feel welcome and supported within the District and have the tools and skills that they need to deliver a high quality programme to our young people.

14-24 Team Leader

Thomas Newman

It’s Thomas’ job to support our section teams to deliver an amazing programme to our members aged 14-24 and to make sure that they have the opportunity to complete their top awards. Thomas also has overall responsibility for the Young Leader scheme within Grafton.

District Leadership Team

The District Leadership Team leads and inspires volunteers to give young people great experiences and skills for life. They make sure the teams in their District are organised, have enough volunteers, and can deliver a great programme. 

Board of Trustees

The District Trustee Board make sure the charity is well managed, risks are assessed and mitigated, buildings and equipment are in good working order, and everyone follows legal requirements and Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). Their support helps other volunteers run a fantastic programme that gives young people skills for life (and experiences they’ll remember forever). 

Programme Team

The District Programme Team helps every section in the District run a safe, enjoyable and high-quality programme. To help do this, they bring Section Team volunteers together with activity experts. 

Support Team

The District Support Team gives tools and resources to help Scouts run smoothly. 

Volunteering Development Team

The District Volunteering Development Team makes sure all volunteers in their District have a positive and enjoyable volunteering experience. They make it easy for people to join and learn new skills. 

14-24 Team

The 14–24 Team helps all volunteers in Explorer (including Young Leaders) and Network Sections. They help Section teams plan and deliver great programmes for young people.
